Job Purpose:
To assess, monitor, plan and make recommendations for the efficient utilization of cash and the proposal of investment options in accordance with the objectives of the Group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a highly motivated and well-trained staff. Supervise staff to ensure regular, high standard of performance and engagement.
  • Complete performance reviews for all assigned team members within required timeframes.
  • Forecast daily cash requirements and proposed daily financing recommendations.
  • Manage all aspects of In-house investment portfolios. Including directing, monitoring and trading investment portfolios including Working capital, High-Yield, Escrow, and other portfolios.
  • Assess performance benchmarks and recommend changes when warranted.
  • Review and recommend changes to the investment policies based on the market conditions.
  • Review and evaluate cash-flow requirement for capital projects and investment proposals under consideration with the Credit Union.
  • Prepare or monitor company’s various cash flow forecasts and perform financial modeling.
  • Evaluate, develop and recommend cash management systems and strategies to optimize efficiencies. Understand and evaluate accounting controls, procedures and processes surrounding cash management and make recommendations where necessary to mitigate the risk of fraud.
  • Manage relationships with financial service providers. Monitor bank service fees and address quality issues.
  • Evaluate alternative long-term borrowing strategies and make recommendations in accordance with the capital structure guidelines and policy.
  • Provide technical and other support for mergers and acquisitions and other projects as needed.
  • Sells/cross sells the organisation’s products and services. Identify referral opportunities and make relevant referrals to assist the branch to meet its objectives.
  • Any other duties ancillary or related to the foregoing.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Extensive experience in preparing cash forecasts, cash flow analyses, capital budgeting and investment analysis.
  • Experience in the preparation of financial schedules and regulatory filings including some disclosures.
  • Experience in building complex financial models to evaluate various financial plans.
  • Experience in presenting and preparing proposals to recommend new products/services.

 

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of investment portfolio strategy, banking, and financial instruments.
  • General knowledge of IFRS and Regulatory reporting requirements for investments and other financial instruments.
  • Knowledge of treasury software expertise a plus.
  • Advanced analytical, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and modeling skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills.
