The time has come for us to officially say goodbye to our Local Debit Card network provider CariFS on November 30th, 2021. As we transitioned over the past few months, we have been able to offer our members an even more secure, more widely accepted, more convenient debit card experience with our new partner Mastercard®.
What does this mean for the Co-Optima Card?
Our new BPWCCUL Debit Mastercard® will soon replace all previously issued Co-Optima and Co-Optima Advance cards.
Use of the Co-Optima card will be limited to our Co-Optima ATMs only for a limited time i.e. the card will no longer work at point-of-sale terminals nor the ATMs of other financial institutions after CariFS officially closes.
The new BPWCCUL Mastercard® has been sent via postal mail to eligible members. If you have not yet received your Debit Mastercard®, we encourage you to call our Card Department at 622-9000 and select the ‘Card Queries’ and select 4 again to speak with an agent. You may also call 622-9123 or 622-8983 directly or send an email to contact@bpwccul.bb.
Your BPWCCUL Mastercard® Debit Card will arrive via postal mail to the primary address attached to your account, so make sure that your information with us is up-to-date.
Members for who we have up-to-date information will begin to receive their cards in the mail from June 2021.
Members who have not recently updated their account information will have to do so before their card can be sent to them via postal mail.
Also, if your account has a Co-Optima card attached to it but you haven’t used the card within the last two (2) years, you are then required to request the card from us.

A Chip & PIN card is a debit or credit card that contains a computer data chip (usually found on the front of the card) that requires a four-digit personal identification number (PIN) for the cardholders to successfully make purchases and ATM transactions.
Your card has a magnetic stripe in case a device (ATM or Point-of-Sale) is not capable of reading a CHIP or if the CHIP fails to be recognized by the terminal.
On receipt of your BPWCCUL Mastercard® Debit Card, please call 246-622-9000 and follow the auto-attendant prompts to activate and PIN your card. The system will automatically seek to verify the information you enter with the information on your account, so it’s important that the information in the system is accurate and up-to-date.
This activation and pinning process should be completed on the same call before the card can be used.
Please note that during this process you will be asked to enter your credit card number, however you should enter your BPWCCUL Mastercard® Debit Card number at that point.
Your card can be used immediately after it has been successfully activated and pinned.
