Candidate’s Bio
Valencia Cumberbatch has been a dedicated member of the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. for over 32 years. Her commitment to the Credit Union movement is evident through her extensive volunteer service. Over the years, she had made significant contributions as a member of the Representatives Association, and as a member, Secretary and Chairperson of the Credit Committee. Additionally, she served as Chairperson of the Educational Scholarships and Grants Committee.
Professionally, is employed at Goddard Enterprises Limited, where she has accumulated 27 years of valuable experience within the group. Her leadership qualities have also been demonstrated in her roles with the Goddard’s Sports Club, where she has served as President, Vice President, Assistant Secretary Treasurer, and Public Relations Officer.
A strong believer in community development, Valencia has served as Treasurer of the St. Lucy Parish Independence Committee and actively serves her community as Secretary and Community Relations Officer of the local Neighbourhood Watch Association.
Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Labour and Employment Relations from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She also completed the CUES Governance Leadership Institute I certification through the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Valencia is a passionate advocate of the Credit Union philosophy, “People Helping People.” Her desire to serve on the Board of Directors stems from her commitment to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and success of the Credit Union, using her knowledge and experience to support its mission and objectives.

PADMORE, Carl
Reason for wanting to serve:
Public relations and image building is a serious focus for me. I am of the view that the BPWCCUL can benefit from these skills. Leadership is also a strong point for me.
Candidate’s Bio
As a creative, Carl Padmore is seen as a dynamic engager and organizer for individuals and companies alike. He has performed the roles of project lead in such areas as: - Time Management, Group Dynamics, Teambuilding, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Protocol.
Growing up in the agriculture village of Marchfield in the parish of St. Philip, Barbados, our board member is known in the entertainment sphere in Barbados where he has made a name for himself working with Government agencies and private agencies including UNICEF. This parish propelled him into public and community services as it has the distinction of producing two Prime Ministers and Two Attorney Generals and the island’s second female Governor General. Our speaker has done considerable work with under privilege youth, through programmes like the PURE Referral Centre, the Barbados Youth Service, the Child Card Board, Sundah Food Production, G.O.A.L. Mind and Pinelands Creative Workshop.
This former secondary school teacher – now Public Relations Officer for the fifteen years with the Ministry of Environment is trained in Public Relations, Marketing, Event Planning and Executive, Customer Service Enhancement, Counselling, Public and Motivational Speaking, Drama, Coaching Track and Field and Netball, Massage Therapy, Physical Training, Master of Ceremonies duties, Youth Research, Performing Poetry and Stand-Up Comedy. His work has taken him throughout the Caribbean, the USA, Brazil, Chile and London.
From 1983 he has won over forty national awards for poetry and dramatic characterization; he also won The Barbados Man of Merit Award in 2008. In 2014, he won Best Poem and Best Spoken Word in Jamaica at the Tallawah Festival. In 2027 The Kiwanis International made him their community Services Ambassador. In 2018 he won the Better Health Champion Award. This qualified coach lost 44 pounds in twelve weeks, went from a size 46 waistline to size 40. Padmore also has conferred with title Childhood Obesity Champion of Barbados working with The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados. Speaking to this Caribbean son of the soil one would sense his passion for Caribbean music as well as desire to promote the Caribbean in all he does.
Mr. Carl Padmore who is believer in workers’ rights and also the credit union movement is armed with a first degree in Creative Arts with honours. Padmore is also trained as a Motivational Speaker with the Anthony Robbins Foundation.
PARRIS-BRYAN, Rozanne
Reason for wanting to serve:
I believe that over 30 years working in both the corporate and legal fields have given me a wealth of knowledge and experience that will allow me to make a valuable contribution to the good governance of the institution and its members which will assist it with being a good corporate citizen.
Candidate’s Bio
As a youngster fresh out of school Rozanne was involved in a programme conceptualised by the Women and Development Unit (WAND) of the University of the West Indies in association with the Voice of Barbados (VOB) called “People of Tomorrow”. This was geared towards introducing young people to the world of work and equipping them with the knowledge required to navigate same.
Through this programme, she interned with the Women and Development Unit (WAND) of the University of the West Indies and there became exposed to the workings of many NGOs in Barbados and across the region.
She began her formal work experience as a freelance secretary and this afforded her the opportunity to gain wide and varied work experience. Some of the organisations with which she has worked include the University of the West Indies, the Caribbean Regional Council for Adult Education, Hipac Limited and T. Geddes Grant to name a few. This led to her joining the Barbados Secretaries Association and pursuing the designations of Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) through the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
For the past 30 plus years she has been employed in Corporate Administration and Civil Law Practices. She has also served as Deputy Chairman of the Barbados Transport Authority and as a Director on the Film Censorship Board.
Based on the knowledge and skills she has amassed over the years which include Human Resources and Administrative Management, Dale Carnegie Training in Effective Communications and Human Relations, Event Planning and Property and Real Estate Management and in her current position where she performs multi-faceted roles in a thriving civil law practice, she believes that her varied community and professional experiences places her as an ideal candidate to join the progressive team on the Board of Directors.
Throughout her adult life she has always been actively engaged in her community and public life. She has been a Justice of the Peace for the past 28 years and continues to serve her communities and country in this role. She is passionate about service and has over the years been involved in numerous service projects through her sons’ schools and sports clubs, the Progressive Optimist Club as a member serving in various positions within the Club and in other community-based projects.
Service is her mantra.

I have been a member of the Barbados Public Workers’ Credit Union Limited for over twenty-five years and am indeed proud to be affiliated with this noble financial institution.
As a wife and mother of three sons, I have served in various volunteer capacities including the Parent Teachers’ Association of my sons’ respective schools, the St. Joseph Parish Independence Committee, the Library Association of Barbados and the Barbados 4H Foundation in various roles. During my tenure with the Parish Independence Committee, I served in the capacity of Chairperson, Project Manager and Attendant, leading the committee to two successive wins in 2012 and 2013.
Having served as a member of the Board of Directors of the BPWCCUL for just under two years as well as on various other Boards and committees, I can assure you of my continued, unwavering commitment to the execution of good governance, leadership and the upholding of sound morals and integrity.
With a firm belief in the value of education and passion for the improvement and transformation through continuous learning, I believe that the sustainability of our membership should remain our primary goal.
In my current position of Assistant Registrar at the Barbados Community College, I serve on diverse committees including the Academic Planning and Review Committee, Chairperson of Standard 5 (Quality Enhancement) of the Accreditation Steering Committee and our Anniversary and Events Planning Committee.

Betty Kirby-Davis is a dedicated community advocate committed to making a positive impact through volunteerism and service driven leadership. Her commitment is expressed through hands-on involvement in extending her own resources to underserved communities and less fortunate persons. From opening her home to those in need to caring for homeless animals, mentoring and developing capacity amongst at risk youths, serving as a treasurer, trustee and board member for a non-profit, Betty serves selflessly.
She possesses strong analytical acumen and an ability to drive efficiency and value across business operations. Her academic qualifications combined with her work experience have led to the development of comprehensive understanding and practice of financial reporting. With 14 years of valuable experience in hospitality and the financial services industry she brings a proven track record of delivering exceptional support, resolving issues efficiently ad fostering customer satisfaction and loyalty through clear communication, empathy and problem solving. Armed with a unique set of skills she has valuable experience that will enhance the organisational performance and strategic goals of the Credit Union.

Margo Nicholls is a Senior Accountant with the Registration Department, holding a Degree in The Accounting Special and a Certificate in Public Administration, with extensive experience in Financial Management, Anti Money Laundering and Regulatory Compliance.
One aspect of my daily function is ensuring transparent and efficient financial operations within the department.
My combined expertise in accounting and public administration allows me to navigate complex financial systems while supporting organizational goals and departmental objectives.
I am the mother of two children ages thirty-one(31) and nineteen(19) and a devout Anglican. Outside of work I am passionate of community service, I enjoy gardening, and never passes up a good action movie. This balance of professional dedication and personal interest reflects my commitment to both personal and professional growth.
